AIM’s SR-16 replica is based on the Knights Armament SR-15 M-4 rifle. The SR-15 is Knights Armament improved version of the M4 featuring a full stock and a Rail Interface System (R.I.S). The AIM SR-16 is very similar to Tokyo Marui’s popular Knight’s SR-16 AEG, with the exception that the AIM model has largely metal construction. The metal parts include the rifles body, outer barrel, flash hider, RIS top rail, magazine, sling mounts, the controls and the butt stock. The high quality ABS parts are the RIS System, the stocks body, the grip and the rail covers. The battery compartment inside of the stock is easily accessible from the metal hatch on the butt stock, it easily fits a large type battery inside and uses the large male Tamiya type connector, a very popular and widely used type for the large size batteries. The lack of unrealistic markings on this AEG, especially the body is very welcome and gives the AEG a sleek but realistic look.

The most prominent and important feature of this replica is the R.I.S mounting system which allows easy attachment of any number of devices on any part of the weapon giving this replica a truly modular design. The long 13 inch / 330mm top rail is made up of the rail on top of the body and the top rail of the R.I.S unit, the length makes it is perfect for mounting any scope or other aiming device as required. Also included with this AEG is a quick release ABS vertical grip which uses the Rail Interface System (R.I.S) to mount itself to the underside of the rifle, this gives great control and manoeuvrability.
