The WE Full Metal M1911A1 Colt Officers Model gas blow back pistol, is a high quality but affordable full metal replica of a more compact version of the very famous M1911A1 Colt Government, offering superb value for money. This more compact pistol is very similar to WE’s full size M1911A1 and features the same great performance, accepts Green Gas out of the box, has a variable Hop-Up, a high quality fully metal slide, barrel, frame and all of the controls are also metal. Only the size and magazine have changed, so just like it’s bigger brother the only non-metal external parts are the plastic replica wood grips. All of the metal parts are nicely finished in a realistic and appealing grey which replicates the parkerized finish found on real M1911A1 pistols. The decision WE made not to put unrealistic slide and frame markings is a welcome one, this gives the pistol a sleek but realistic look, the only marking on the pistol are the “.45 ACP” calibre markings on the silver dustcover. Also included with this pistol is an extra magazine in addition to the expected standard magazine, a great bonus!

Although this pistol is not a true replica of the Colt Officers Model, it offers very similar dimensions and unlike the Officers Model it uses the classic M1911A1 parts and styling, producing a unique pistol for people wanting a more compact Colt Government. Compared to the full size pistol this version features a slightly shortened grip and magazine well, accommodating a smaller 13 round single stack magazine along with a shorter slide and barrel which gives the pistol a more manageable size. Apart from this however, all of the controls are the same size and in the same position as the classic Colt Government, so it is still a comfortable and easy to operate handgun. There are two safeties, a grip safety ensuring the pistol can only be fired if it is being held properly and a thumb safety which can be used once the hammer has been cocked. This means that not only is this a very safe and easy to use pistol, but it can be safely carried in a "cocked and locked" state, with the hammer cocked, the trigger safety on, and a round chambered.

Other useful features such as the metal lanyard loop mean that with the use of a lanyard the pistol cannot be lost in the field. Both of the included magazines hold 13 BB’s in a single stack arrangement and are made almost entirely of metal featuring an impressive finish to match the pistol, this also gives a realistic look, weight and finish. Unfortunately the smaller size does mean that these more compact magazines are not compatible with the full size M1911A1 and the Colt Government magazines are not compatible with this pistol.

Overall this is a great compact alternative to the full size M1911A1, offering great performance, high quality full metal construction and is supplied with 2 magazines instead of the usual 1.
